It's more important than ever to support local retailers and sustainable transportation. On Friday, October 9th and Saturday, October 10th, local businesses like Denny's Fresh Farm Grocery, Freshii, Blenz, and the New West Public Library offered free goodies during select hours to participants that registered free and get there by bicycle, transit, foot or wheelchair.

By registering FREE, participants gained:

• Access to the Shop Local Challenge and free giveaways
• Entry to win $150 to your favourite New West local business
• Showing your support of local businesses and New West's Streets for People initiative

Shop Local Challenge Schedule 

Friday, October 9th 

• 9am-1pm: Starbucks (555 6th Street) wants all participants to enjoy a free short coffee and a chocolate madeleine
• 9am-5pm: New West Public Library offered 10 Library Survival Kits with a mask, flash drive and travel mug
• 9am-8pm: Denny's Fresh Farm Grocery (706 6th Ave) is providing gift packages to all participants with snacks, soaps and other quality items
• 11am-5pm: New West Public Library (716 6th Ave) offered Library Survival Kit's (travel mug, flash drive and mask) to the first 10 guests (ALL HAVE BEEN CLAIMED!)
• 11am-8pm: Freshii (622 6th Ave) will be giving away an energy bite or frozen yogurt 
• 1pm-5pm: Everyday Items Japan (Royal City Centre by Kins) is offering natural soap for each participant

Saturday, October 10th
