Position Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and customer-oriented Mobile Bicycle Mechanic to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for providing on-site bicycle repair and maintenance services to our valued customers throughout the Vancouver area.
Responsibilities:
- Diagnose and repair a wide range of bicycle issues, including:
- Drivetrain repairs (shifting, derailleurs, chains)
- Brake adjustments and repairs (disc, rim)
- Wheel truing and spoke replacement
- Tire changes and tube replacements
- Suspension servicing and adjustments
- E-bike diagnostics and repairs (battery, motor, controller)
- Perform routine maintenance services (tune-ups, safety checks)
- Provide excellent customer service, including:
- Communicating clearly and effectively with customers
- Building rapport and trust with clients
- Providing knowledgeable advice and recommendations
- Ensuring customer satisfaction
Specific Duties Include:
- Arrive on-time at all client appointments, maintaining communication procedures in
compliance with our communications policy. - Complete the predetermined service appointment time committed
- Complete all service appointments fully, and to the best of your ability, with special
attention to safety checklists ensuring no bike ever leaves that is not safe to ride. - Communicate openly, and supportively with clients, encouraging awareness of bike
maintenance issues, potential further repair considerations of potential safety issues. - Ensure vehicle load is safely secured at all times while transiting.
- Ensure the safety and security of all company property including vehicle, tools and all other inventory and supplies within.
- Ensure the security of customers' property while in your possession. All replaced components must be offered back to the customer, or to be recycled for them.
- Properly administer the invoicing process including documenting repairs, and any service issues identified or discussions with customers.
Qualifications
As this position involves working independently, we are seeking experienced bike mechanics
who are able to demonstrate proficiency in all service areas without support. Please be prepared to conduct a mechanic aptitude test as part of your interview process.
- 5+ years experience as a bicycle mechanic. (You should be able to service all mechanical aspects of a bike, with proficiency in brake bleeds, and all mechanical aspects)
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot mechanical issues efficiently.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with customers & team, written and verbal.
- Ability to work flexible hours as needed to meet operational demands.
- Class 5 driver's license with a clean driving record
- Ability to lift 20kg, loading bikes into the shop.
Preference will be given to applicants whom:
- Have completed level 1 & 2 Cytech certification
- Have experience working with eBikes
